Privacy Policy
Last Updated: May 18, 2026
Literaturapps ("we," "us," or "our") develops educational and literary mobile applications designed to democratize knowledge and enrich the reading of classical works globally. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it through our compliance with this Privacy Policy ("Policy").
This Policy describes the types of information we may collect from you or that you may provide when you download, install, access, or use any of our mobile applications, websites, or related services (collectively, the "Services"), and our practices for collecting, using, maintaining, protecting, and disclosing that information.
This Policy applies to information collected:
- In our mobile applications.
- In email, text, and other electronic messages between you and Literaturapps.
- Through third-party SDKs, payment facilitators, and advertising networks integrated into our Services.
Please read this Policy carefully to understand our policies and practices regarding your information and how we will treat it. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, your choice is not to download, install, or use our Services. By accessing or using the Services, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
1. Information We Collect and How We Collect It
To respect your privacy, our applications are built with a "local-first" design, meaning we minimize the transmission of personal data to external servers and prioritize storing your reading and learning records directly on your device.
We collect information from and about users of our Services in two primary ways: directly from you (stored locally) and automatically through third-party services (for billing, analytics, and advertising).
1.1 Information You Provide Directly to Us (Stored Locally)
You do not need to register an account, log in, or provide an email address to use our standard Services. However, you may enter details that are stored strictly on your mobile device inside a local database (SQLite/Shared Preferences):
- User Profile Details: Any custom username you write and any avatar you select to personalize your profile.
- Reading Notes: Any text notes, annotations, or comments you write while reading educational materials or classic books.
- Reading & Learning Progress: Your book bookmarks, read chapters, quiz high scores, ranks, levels, and achievements.
- In-App Support Requests: If you contact us directly via email (e.g., support@literaturapps.com), we collect your email address, name, and any other information you choose to provide so we can assist you.
⚠️ WARNING: Because all of your profile details, reading notes, and learning progress are stored strictly on your device, uninstalling the application or clearing its cache will permanently delete this information. Literaturapps cannot access, backup, or recover this data.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
When you download, access, and use our Services, third-party software development kits (SDKs) integrated into our applications may automatically collect certain information:
- Usage Details: Details of your visits to and interaction with our Services, including traffic data, search queries, quiz performance analytics, average session duration, and the specific modules or screens you view.
- Device Information: Technical details about your mobile device and internet connection, including the device’s unique device identifier (e.g., IP address, operating system version, device model, manufacturer, system language, and network connection type).
- Mobile Advertising Identifiers: Non-permanent device identifiers designed specifically for advertising purposes, such as IDFA on iOS and GAID on Android.
- In-App Purchase Metadata: When you purchase premium services (such as PRO), we collect transactional status metadata processed via Apple In-App Purchases, Google Play Billing, and coordinated through RevenueCat. We do not collect or store credit card numbers.
2. Third-Party Services and Data Processing
We partner with trusted third-party service providers who utilize SDKs inside our applications to perform critical business, billing, and advertising functions. By using our Services, you acknowledge that your data may be processed by these third parties in accordance with their respective privacy policies.
2.1 Subprocessors & Integrated SDKs
Unity Ads (Unity Technologies)
Purpose: To serve, personalize, and optimize advertisements (banner ads, interstitial ads, and rewarded video ads) within our standard applications.
Data Processed: Device advertising identifiers (IDFA/GAID), device specifications, IP address, and ad engagement details.
RevenueCat, Inc.
Purpose: To verify premium purchase status, restore subscriptions, and manage user entitlements across platforms securely.
Data Processed: App-store transaction tokens, entitlement statuses, purchase history metadata, and anonymous device IDs.
Firebase (Google LLC)
Purpose: We use Firebase Services (including Firebase Messaging and Remote Config) to send push notifications, manage app configurations remotely, and collect basic crash reports to improve application stability.
Data Processed: Anonymous device tokens, device model, crash logs, and configuration flags.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect or that you provide (including technical data) to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain our mobile applications and educational services.
- Deliver premium upgrades, restore purchases, and verify your PRO entitlement status.
- Display, customize, and optimize advertisements that support our free app offerings.
- Send you push notifications regarding updates, study reminders, or educational alerts (only if you have granted push notification permissions in your device settings).
- Monitor, analyze, and debug application performance, crash rates, and telemetry to improve user experience.
- Respond to your support emails, inquiries, and customer service requests.
- Protect our legal rights and comply with applicable laws and regulations.
4. Disclosure and Sharing of Your Information
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We share information only in the following limited circumstances:
- With Third-Party Service Providers: We disclose technical data, device details, and payment metadata to our trusted subprocessors (Unity Ads, RevenueCat, and Firebase) to enable the functionalities described in Section 2.
- For Legal Compliance: We may disclose information if required to do so by law, court order, or government regulation, or to protect the safety, rights, or property of Literaturapps, our users, or the public.
- Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, restructuring, or sale of assets, user data (including support emails) may be transferred to the acquiring entity.
5. Your Choices and Privacy Controls
We believe in giving you control over your privacy. You can manage your information and opt-out of data collection through the following mechanisms:
5.1 Opting Out of Targeted Advertising (IDFA/GAID)
You can prevent third-party advertising networks (like Unity Ads) from using your device's advertising identifiers for personalized, cross-context behavioral advertising:
- On Apple iOS devices: Go to Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Tracking and toggle off "Allow Apps to Request to Track", or deny permission when the app prompts you.
- On Android devices: Go to Settings -> Privacy -> Ads (or Settings -> Google -> Services -> Ads) and toggle on "Opt out of Ads Personalization" or select "Reset Advertising ID".
If you opt-out, you will still see advertisements in the ad-supported version of our applications, but they will be generic and less relevant to you.
5.2 Managing Push Notifications
If you no longer wish to receive push notifications, you can disable them at any time by going into your mobile device's system settings, locating our application, and turning off notification permissions.
5.3 Complete Local Data Deletion
Since we do not store your reading notes, username, or quiz progress on our servers, you can instantly erase all of your personal learning history, notes, and profile settings by uninstalling the application from your mobile device.
6. GDPR and EEA/UK User Rights
If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom (UK), you have specific data protection rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the UK Data Protection Act 2018.
6.1 Legal Bases for Processing Data
We process your technical and payment data under the following legal bases:
- Performance of a Contract: To verify and deliver the PRO features you purchase (via RevenueCat).
- Consent: To serve personalized ads (via Unity Ads) and send push notifications (via Firebase), where you have given explicit permission through your device settings.
- Legitimate Interests: To monitor, debug, and improve our Services, ensuring stable performance and secure transactions.
6.2 Your Rights under the GDPR
You have the following rights:
- Right of Access: You can review the local data in the app at any time.
- Right of Rectification: You can edit your local username or notes directly in the app.
- Right of Erasure ("Right to be Forgotten"): You can delete all local data by uninstalling the app. You may also request that we delete any support emails you sent us by emailing support@literaturapps.com.
- Right to Data Portability: You may export your local notes by using the sharing options built into the application.
- Right to Restrict or Object to Processing: You can object to personalized advertising by disabling ad personalization on your device (see Section 5.1).
- Right to Withdraw Consent: You can withdraw consent for tracking or notifications at any time via device settings.
To exercise any of these rights or file an inquiry, please contact us at support@literaturapps.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
7. CCPA/CPRA and California Resident Rights
If you are a resident of California, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), grants you specific rights regarding your personal information.
7.1 Notice of Collection and Categories of Data
In the preceding 12 months, we and our partners have collected the following categories of personal information:
- Identifiers: Technical IP address, device advertising identifiers (IDFA/GAID), and Firebase push tokens.
- Commercial Information: Entitlement logs and transaction metadata processed via Apple/Google app store billing.
- Internet or Other Electronic Network Activity: Session durations, screen views, quiz performance metrics, and ad interactions.
7.2 "Selling" or "Sharing" of Personal Information
Literaturapps does not sell your personal information for monetary compensation. However, the integration of third-party advertising SDKs (like Unity Ads) that track advertising identifiers for personalized ads may be classified as "selling" or "sharing" personal information under California law. By disabling ad personalization in your Android or iOS device settings (as outlined in Section 5.1), you are exercising your right to opt-out of the "selling" or "sharing" of your personal information.
7.3 Your Rights under the CCPA
California residents have the right to:
- Request to Know: Request details on what personal data we collect, use, and share.
- Request Deletion: Request the deletion of personal information (which you can do instantly by uninstalling the app, or by emailing us to delete support records).
- Opt-Out of Sale or Sharing: Opt-out of personalized ad networks.
- Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.
To submit a request, contact us at support@literaturapps.com.
8. COPPA and Children's Privacy
Our Services are designed for students, readers, and adult learners. We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the EEA/UK) in compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and GDPR.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has provided us with personal information (such as through a support email or by circumventing ad tracking), please contact us immediately at support@literaturapps.com. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under the required age, we will take immediate steps to delete that information from our systems.
9. Data Retention and Security
9.1 Data Retention
- Local Data: Your local profile, reading notes, and quiz histories remain on your device indefinitely until you clear the app cache, uninstall the application, or manually delete them.
- Third-Party Data: Firebase analytics, RevenueCat billing data, and Unity Ads logs are retained in accordance with the retention and privacy policies of the respective providers.
- Support Emails: We retain support emails only as long as necessary to resolve your inquiry and maintain customer service records, typically up to 2 years.
9.2 Data Security
We implement industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical security measures designed to protect your information from unauthorized access, loss, or alteration. All communication between our applications and third-party APIs (such as RevenueCat or Firebase) is encrypted using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL/TLS) technology.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make updates, we will post the new Privacy Policy in this file and revise the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we are protecting your information. Continued use of our applications following the posting of changes constitutes your agreement to the updated Privacy Policy.
